Welcome to the 2008-2009 Toastmaster year! This is your year to embrace the vision of Toastmasters International…to achieve your potential and realize your dreams! Where better to begin than in an organization that focuses on self-confidence and personal growth? Ty Howard, motivational speaker and friend to the Toastmasters of District 18, painted a powerful image for the audience at this year's Spring Conference when he reminded us that our pallet of options includes the color "green and growing." Whether we joined a club yesterday or earned the Distinguished Toastmaster award 10 years ago, we always have the opportunity to learn, grow and change. What a bright and energizing portrayal of this year’s district theme, The Future is Yours! As individuals, we are most successful when we establish a plan for reaching our goals and work that plan regularly. As an organization, Toastmasters clubs are most successful when they establish a plan for attaining goals and work that plan regularly, too. That plan—called the Distinguished Club Plan—is the medium we use to develop our communication and leadership skills. Do I care if you achieve your goals? You bet! Does it matter if your club achieves Distinguished Club status or better? You better believe it! The bottom line is that by focusing your club activities on goals that support the Distinguished Club Plan, you help both yourself and your fellow Toastmasters achieve their potential and realize their dreams. In the process, you remain green and growing. We fellow Toastmasters remain green and growing. And I — along with everyone else—am cheering you every step of the way. Fellow Toastmasters, Friends, and Guests, The Future is Yours…go get it! Together we are
