District Director

Greetings District 18 Toastmasters.  Although it appears that I am the only candidate for District Director for the D18 2021-2022 year, I refuse to remain complacent.  Even though our current year has been an unprecedented one in the history of our organization, together we remain strong and resilient and we will continue to do so.

In our current year, each of us was tasked to “LEVEL UP”, which was also our district theme.  For the coming year, I want to take that a step further in the form of paying it forward. Even in my CGD year, I was a proponent of mentorship and when someone else mentioned the word “mentor”, I would dance a little “jig” inside.  That is the direction I see the district going in the future.

One of my favorite quotes is by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”. So, as we each “Level Up”, share what you’ve learned and help those that are where you were in their Toastmasters journey. Be a mentor. For the coming year, I now task each of us to “Shine Your Light and Lead the Way”.

Program Quality Director

As Amanda Gorman stated, “The new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it.  If only we’re brave enough to be it.” Such inspiring words from today’s youth and tomorrow’s potential Toastmasters.  I conquered my fears and stepped into the world of Toastmasters 4 short years ago. What I found within this organization is unmeasurable. I have the longing to help bring this courageousness to others.

When there is a need in any organization I am a part of, I bring a unique experience to each role I perform. As a perpetual team member, every position is a chance to apply my skills and help others be the best they can be. A life-long teacher/student/mentor; ready to accept new challenges. Having a solid existing team of support, both inside and outside District 18; prepared to advise and consult.

Continuously adaptive and willing to transform, there are multiple goals I intend to strive for. Incorporate new ideas and methods, moving District 18 into the 21st century. Transparency of operations and decisions, including those members impacted by those decisions. Drive education and learning to a new level of service excellence; clear, consistent, repeatable. Maintain fiscal responsibility while employing the Lessons Learned acquired of the past few years.

I have consistently brought my International, educational, diverse, financially accredited experience to District 18. I will import my passion, energy, understanding, honesty, and empathic way of life. I humbly request your vote for Program Quality Director 2021 – 2022.

Club Growth Director

Today’s picture is not necessarily tomorrow’s dream.

As a change agent my charge is to identify how do we get there and accomplish the goal/task at hand. I would like to work with the team and develop and implement the dream.

My only question is ” How can we make it happen TOGETHER?”

Division Director

This is the year of the rebuild.

One member, one club, one area and one district at-a time.

We begin at the beginning.

Thank you for your consideration.

More on Deidre Avant:

This will be a transformational year. We’ll grow from this challenging year by implementing the best of our virtual meetings into our new reality.

Toastmasters taught me to build my self-confidence, one speech at a time. As a Division Director, I’m going to do the same for our members and area directors. We’ll take things one step at a time to help members grow as confident communicators online or in person. By increasing membership and building supportive learning experiences through the Pathway program, it will develop great leaders throughout Toastmasters.
