Senior Vice President, Winchester Operations, Navy Federal Credit Union

Susan Brooks began her career in 1993 implementing a new strategy for Navy Federal’s fraud prevention unit. Since that time, Susan has held numerous positions within the credit union including Credit Card Services Manager, Public Relations Manager, Marketing Assistant Vice President, Consumer Lending Assistant Vice President and now her current role as the Senior Vice President of Navy Federal’s Contact Center and Winchester Operations, where she oversees the day to day operations of both the Contact Center and the entire Winchester Campus.

As an executive leader at Navy Federal with nearly 30 years of service, she has a decorated history of accomplishments both at Navy Federal and within Frederick County. Susan’s commitment to the credit union has been profoud, as has the impact of her long-standing leadership to those around her.

Susan’s passion for Navy Federal’s mission of service and her desire to continue to impact the growth in the local area has had a significant effect on both NFCU members and team members. She sees the importance of contributing to the local area so the employees thrive in a robust community. Since NFCU broke ground in Winchester in 2006, Susan has helped foster growth from just 60 employees to now over 2000.

Susan and her team’s desire for positive, mutually beneficial community relationships have resulted in NFCU’s multiple school partnership programs from grade level schooling up to college courses. This collaboration with local schools, the community college and university has allowed for continued career development for the team. Susan fosters relationships serving as a Board Member for the Frederick County Economic Development Authority and the Frederick County Public Schools Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee.

Her dedication to the community does not stop there, as she also serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Shenandoah Valley; the Shenandoah University, School of Business Board of Advisors; and is a member of the Valley Health System Corporation. Susan’s long-standing efforts leading Navy Federal helped the organization recently surpass its milestone of acquiring its 10 millionth member.

Susan spends her free time with her husband Jimmy and their two dogs in Winchester, and with their son Kevin; his wife, Kelly; and their daughter, Isla who reside in Northern VA.
