What is the Mission of the TLC team?

Our Mission is to present outstanding training programs that give club officers the knowledge and resources they need to be successful in meeting the club Mission Statement.

We will accomplish this by using Toastmasters International programs and materials, using knowledgeable and trained trainers, and by ensuring consistency of training throughout the district.

Why should I attend officer training?

Beyond the requirements set by Toastmasters International and the corresponding credit for your club’s Distinguished Club Program; training gives you the best opportunity to meet your members’ needs!

Is there an agenda for the training?

An agenda will available on-line before each of the TLC events.  The TLC program is divided into three sessions:

  1. A general session for all officers to include topics and information applicable to all club officers.
  2. Office-specific breakout sessions for in-depth training on the standards for the office
  3. Electives of interest to Toastmasters in general – these electives may not be offered at every TLC event.

What training is required for credit?

In accordance with the requirements outlined in Toastmasters Catalog 217, attendance at the following sessions is required for credit:

  1. General Session
  2. Officer breakout training session – you MUST attend the office-specific breakout session for the office(s) you hold.

In order to receive credit for training you must sign the attendance record – be sure to register when you arrive!

I have been an officer before. Do I still have to attend?

Yes. It is part of the standards of the office as defined by Toastmasters International.

You probably won't "absorb" all the material presented the first time, second time, or even the 10th time you hear the material.  You may also gain a fresh perspective from a different teacher or the other attendees. And even if you've been to training before, your perspective may help out other attendees.
